Beautiful Bearspaw rolling hills and wooded acreages, located northwest of the city and east of Cochrane, on Highway 1A. The Bearspaw area is immediately east of the Glendale community and north of the Bow River and is in the MD of Rocky View. Twenty five to thirty minutes from Downtown Calgary, and minutes away from the new Stoney Trail ring road going North and South.

In June 1909 a Canadian Pacific Railway station was established at Bearspaw and named after Chief Masgwaahsid, or Bear’s Paw, who signed the treaty at Blackfoot Crossing, September 22, 1877.

Bearspaw School opened in 2002 in a peaceful rural setting for children from the Bearspaw area from ECS to Grade 8. Children who live in the surrounding areas are bused to the school. High school age children are bused in to Cochrane.

Bearspaw Golf Course

Bill Newis was the architect for Bearspaw Golf Course which was opened to public in 1985. The course features 6810 yards from the Blue tees with a rating of 72.0 and a par of 71. Bearspaw Golf Course has an estimated number of 32,000 (estimated) rounds played annually and it is a 18-hole (Private) course.
